The Faraway Tree Day Nursery has some fastastic spaces

The Faraway Tree Day Nursery provides three specific areas for children of different ages, plus a Sensory/Discovery room and a Messy Play Room. We have fantastic outdoor facilities in which children can explore, learn and have fun. Each child will be assigned a key person. Their role is to help ensure that every child’s care is tailored to meet their individual needs, to help the child become familiar with the setting, offer a settled relationship for the child and build a relationship with their parents.

The Blossom Room

The Blossom Room is a self-contained area for our 3-24 month old children where our staff ratio is 1:3 The integral kitchen allows staff to prepare bottle feeds and meals for the babies, ensuring we are fully aware of the child’s feeding routine. We have a separate sleep room which contains cots to ensure that babies have a comfortable undisturbed sleep. This room is monitored by our staff via intercoms, and the sleeping children are visually checked every 10 minutes. We have a feeding area which includes highchairs, and table and chairs for the older babies.   Activities include free play, creative activities, music and story time, we also aim to go out and about during the day whether in the garden or out for a walk weather permitting.

The Conker Room

The Conker Room is for our 2-3 year olds where our ratio is 1:4. We accept 2 year old funding from the term following the child’s second birthday. Our Conker Room has two separate areas. There is a playroom and a separate creative room (Messy Room) which we also use as our dining room. Children have access to different resources; we also begin to introduce more structure to the toddler’s day by including story times. The toddler room activities are planned around the Early Year’s Foundation Stage, which follow the three areas of learning and the toddlers have access to the garden/outside areas at certain times during the day.

The Acorn Room

The Acorn Room is for our over 3's (Pre-school) where our ratio is 1:8. All toys and equipment are accessible to the children, giving them independence to choose their own activities; Children also have access to the outside area for 'free flow' time during the day. The Pre-School’s daily routines and activities are planned around the 7 areas of learning from the Early Year’s Foundation Stage, a curriculum designed to create an environment which provides activities and learning opportunities to enhance the children’s development. We accept 3 year old funding from the term following the child’s third birthday, The funding is for 15 hours per week at present; however in September 2017 this will increase to 30 hours per week subject to eligibility.

The Sensory Room

The Sensory Room is a special room designed to develop children's senses by using the special lighting, music, and objects in there, it is also used at times as a topic room for our older children.

Outside Areas

At the Faraway Tree we have plenty of outdoor space, We have a secure car park area to the front of the nursery, which during session time we use for bikes and scooters. We have a large climbing frame on the grass area for children to access and we enjoy story time under the large tree which gives ample shade on sunny days. To the side of the nursery is a safe, secure and spacious area for the children to play and explore. We have a Wendy House, tree swing and den to mention just a few items. The children love to play in the sand/water trough and get messy in the mud kitchen.
