Five friends with long standing experience in Early Years and Childcare had a vision to establish a high quality day nursery with a difference. We purchased the building in July 2015 and our aspirations began to take shape.
Every child deserves the best possible start in life and the support that enables them to fulfil their potential. Children develop quickly in the early years and a child’s experiences between birth and age five have a major impact on their future life chances. A secure, safe and happy childhood is important in its own right. Good parenting and high quality early learning together provide the foundation children need to make the most of their abilities and talents as they grow up.
Following many years of working within settings, we came to the realisation that a different approach was needed to encourage children’s development and learning, and as such we are implementing the Elizabeth Jarman approach. Her vision is to create a really effective leaning environment which supports communication skills, emotional well-being and increased levels of engaged learning for children across all key stages. Her thinking is professionally challenging the way that environments for children are viewed.
The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) sets the standards that all early years’ providers must meet to ensure that children learn and develop well and are kept healthy and safe. It promotes teaching and learning to ensure children’s ‘school readiness’ and gives children the broad range of knowledge and skills that provide the right foundation for good future progress through school and life. Using the Elizabeth Jarman and EYFS standards we at The Faraway Tree Day Nursery aim to create a stimulating and fun learning environment for all.
